Sydney Chinese church movements – 2012

1346874_human_raceHere are Chinese church English ministry moves for Sydney for 2012:

David Martin began ministry at Hebron Chinese Alliance Church in Westmead in January. He was previously serving part-time at North Side Chinese Alliance Church.

Douglas Fyfe began ministry at NDCCCS in January. He was previously studying at Moore.

Danny Au Yeung began ministry at Crossway Anglican (previously known as St Paul’s Carlingford).

Sarah Cheng began ministry at St Andrew’s Cathedral.

Joshua Guo began part time ministry at Cabramatta Anglican.

Dan Lee began ministry at Rooty Hill Anglican as their Maturity and Ministry pastor.

Nathan Cheung began serving as catechist at St John’s Parramatta in February, as well as Bible college at Moore. He was previously doing a ministry apprenticeship at CABC West Ryde.

Sarah Holder and her husband Darran left ministry at NDCCCS at the end of Feburary. Sarah was their women’s pastor and Darren their student pastor.

Vivian To began a part time position as pastoral assistant at North Side Chinese Alliance Church in February, in addition to continuing her studies at SMBC. She was previously at Gracepoint Lidcombe. In the new year she will be attending EFCA East Lindfield.

Ariel Kurilowicz began ministry at WSCCC in March. He was previously at St Jude’s Carlton.

Al Garlando finished his ministry at Grace CCC Kogarah in April. He has taken up a new position at Marsfield Community Church.

Alec Wallis begins ministry at Grace CCC Sutherland’s English ministry.

Fiona May left her full time role at York Street Anglican.

Nathan Dean began ministry at LIFE church in October.

Andrew Bardsley from Queensland was called to WSCCC in December as part-time youth pastor. He will also be studying at SMBC in the new year.

Gary Koo was appointed rector of Crossway Anglican churches in Carlingford in December.

Vinh Doan leaves Baulkham Hills Chinese Alliance Church (BHCAC) in December. He has been serving there as the English pastor. *

Derek Cheng finishes his studies at SMBC. Derek will be taking up a youth ministry position at CCC in the new year. *

Matt Lim finishes his studies at SMBC. Matt will be doing youth ministry at Marrickville Road Church in the new year.

Jasmine Yong finishes her studies at MTC. Jasmine will be serving at MAAC/NAAC in the new year.

Richard Chiu and Sylvia Yeung finish their studies at SMBC, and Joanne Wong finishes her studies at MTC. They are currently exploring ministry options.

Here are other Chinese ministry moves:

Frankie Law began ministry at WSCCC, Strathfield. He was previously serving at Living Springs EFCA (Kellyville).

Jacob Yung began a full time role at Living Springs EFCA (Kellyville) at the start of 2012. He was previously serving in Tasmania.

David Huynh began ministry at St Jude’s Carlton in Melbourne.

Chris and Grace Lung began ministry in Brisbane Chinese Alliance Church. Grace serves in a part time role. *

Hung Kai Wong served for a while at St Matthew’s West Pennant Hills.

Philip Wong is appointed as Assistant Pastor at North Side Chinese Alliance Church in April. He was previously a student at SMBC and serving as student pastor at North Side. *

South West Chinese Christian Chruch (SWCCC) in Kingsgrove becomes independent of CCC Milson’s Point in July. *

The English congregation North Shore Community Christian Church, which had been using the premises of Gordon Baptist Church, merged with Gordon Baptist Church in July. *

Cam Phong plants a second Vietnamese church at Canley Heights.

Sydney Chinese church movements – 2011

In future I will probably post these in the middle of the year – there are way too many moves happening in the Nov-Feb period, and it makes more sense to deal with them all at once when things have settled down for the year. But for the time being…

Here are Chinese church English ministry moves for Sydney for the year 2011:

Dale Baikie finished ministry as English pastor of Chinese Methodist Church Carlton at the end of January.

Andrew Wong began as interim youth and young adults pastor at WSCCC in January. He was previously studying at SMBC, and will later be preparing for overseas ministry.

Andrew Drury finished ministry as youth worker at Asquith Anglican in February.

Tho Luu finished up his part time role at NSCAC. He is focussing on his North Sydney responsibilites with City Bible Forum.

Ben Ho began serving at CPC Surry Hills.

Kitty Chan began serving part time at CPC Surry Hills.

John Gurusamy began as English pastor of Living Stone EFCA in February. He was previously International Minister at St Matthew’s Anglican church, Manly.

Ernest Chiang began at Chinese Methodist Church in Carlton in March.

David Martin returned from East Asia and took up a part time role at NSCAC in April until the end of this year. He will then be moving to Hebron Chinese Alliance Church in Westmead.

Thomas Chin began serving at Beverly Hills Baptist Church as English pastor.

Anthony Dumbrell is now serving at  EFCA Living Springs.

Darran Holder started as student pastor at NDCCCS in April. He and Sarah will be moving to a new ministry next year.

Stephen Coxhead started at Cheung Chen CCC.

Jasmine Yong is now at NAAC as chatechist. She was previously at St Andrew’s Cathedral.

Albert Lam moves from full time to part time MAP at EFCA East Lindfield.

John Dickson was ordained at NDCCCS on 15 May.

Candy Leung left Lidcombe Anglican Church in June.

John Menzies left NDCCCS in December and began his new role as Regional Chaplaincy Advisor at Gener8.

Douglas Fyfe graduates from MTC. He will be serving at NDCCCS in the coming year.

Kitty Chan begins ministry at CPC Surry Hills as youth pastor. She has been studying at SMBC.

Kenneth Lo return to Malaysia to take up a ministry position. He has been studying at MTC.

Chris Lung graduates from SMBC. He has been serving at Sydwest and will be serving at Chinese Alliance church in Brisbane.

Fiona May began a full time role at York Street Anglican.

Leo Chen began serving at Ashfield Anglican.

Here are other Chinese ministry moves:

Charles Yu was ordained at NSCAC in Epping in May.

Sydney Chinese church movements – 2010

Here are Chinese church English ministry moves for Sydney for the year 2010:

Andrew Hong started at North Side Chinese Alliance Church in Epping (1 Jan 2010). He previously served at NDCCCS.

Alby Lam began ministry as pastor of the English congregation at Evangelical Free Church of Australia, East Lindfield. He had previously served among them as chatechist in 2009 in his final year at Moore College.

Sarah Norris began ministry at Northern District Chinese Christian Church Sydney (NDCCCS) as Women’s Pastor (22 Feb 2010). She graduated from SMBC in 2009.

Candy Ho Yee Yip began ministry at Lidcombe Anglican (14 March 2010).

Thomas Chin left Hebron Chinese Alliance Church (July 2010).

Lawrence Bai graduated from SMBC and is now heading up the Easy English ministry at Gracepoint Burwood.

Alan Mao finished up at Hurstville Presbyterian. He will begin at SWCCC as Mandarin pastor in 2011.

Keith Noldt finished a term as interim pastor at WSCCC.

Ernest Chiang finished up serving as youth pastor at CECA Mortdale.

Sarah Cheng finished serving at MBM Rooty Hill as student minister and will begin serving at Life Anglican Church Fairfield as student minister.

Pete & Kat Lau (and kids) arrived in Malaysia to teach at Seminari Theoloji Malaysia (13th March).

The Tans (and kids) arrived in East Asia.

Phil & Miriam Snelling (and kids) begain serving in Taiwan in December.

Jasmine Lee began serving in Thailand in July.

Du Vinh & Robyn Nham finished working with FOCUS in Perth.

The following began at Bible college: Rita Chan (SMBC), Jasmine Yong (MTC), Noah Ho (part time, SMBC).

In March, the following graduated from Moore College with a BD: David Huynh, Alby Lam, Tim Woo, and M.L. The following graduated from Moore College with an MA(Th): Andrew Hong.

Ernest Chiang was ordained by Christ Evangelical Centre of Australia (CECA) in March (20 Mar 2010).

Owen Seto was ordained at Burwood Chinese Presbyterian Church in April (20 Apr 2010).

John Menzies was ordained at Northern District Chinese Christian Church Sydney (NDCCCS) in May (30 May 2010).

Here are other Chinese ministry moves:

Arthur Leung began at NDCCCS doing their Easy English Ministry. He was previously at North Side Chinese Alliance Church.

Freddie Li left Hebron Chinese Alliance Church (24 March 2010).

Alice Dang (nee Ki) of North Side Chinese Alliance Church began ministry as Authorized Missionary with Student Life at Macquarie University in May.

Sydney Chinese church movements – 2009

These are English ministry movements in Sydney for the year 2009:

Mr Alby Lam graduates from Moore College and will begin as English pastor at EFCA East Lindfield in 2010. He was serving there as a chatechist during 2009.

Mr Simon Wong graudates from Presbyterian Theological Centre and returns to Gracepoint Burwood to begin their Easy English ministry. He has been working as a chatechist at Hope Anglican Church, Chatswood.

Rev. Cam Phong Huynh left St Geroge’s Anglican Church, Hurstville and began LIFE, a second generation Vietnamese church plant with Fairfield Anglican.

Pastor Andrew Hong leaves Northern District Chinese Christian Church Sydney (NDCCCS). He will begin as Associate Pastor at North Side Chinese Alliance Church in Epping in 2010.

Rev. Alistair Chiu leaves Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Panania. He will begin at St Geroge’s Anglican Church, Hurstville in 2010.

Pastor Anthony Dumbrell leaves Hills District Chinese Christian Church (HDCCC).

Pastor Ernest Chiang is still with Christ Evangelical Church of Australia (CECA), but moves from the Eastwood church to the Mortdale branch church to begin its English ministry.

Rev. Peter Ko is still with Chinese Christian Church Milson’s Point (CCC), but began the South West Chinese Christian Church plant.

Pastor Al Garlando began as English pastor of Grace Chinese Christian Church, Kogarah. He replaces Bob McSwan who served as interim pastor.

Rev. Andrew Maxwell leaves Australian Ling Liang Church in Asquith.

Bronwyn Lihou leaves Western Region Chinese Presbyterian Church (WRCPC) at Bonnyrigg as an OMF missionary to Taiwan.

Pastor John Wiggins from Eastwood Baptist joins Chinese Australian Baptist Church West Ryde (CABC WR) as interim English pastor.

Pastor Mark Boyley was ordained at West Sydney Chinese Christian Church (WSCCC). He pastors the CP11 congregation at Croydon Park.

Pastor Steve Chong was ordained at Kirplace Presbyterian Church in Kogarah.

Pastor Tom Tokura was ordained at Chinese Christian Church, Milson’s Point.

Here are some other Chinese ministry moves in Sydney for the year 2009:

Mr David Truong begins part time ministry at Northern District Chinese Christian Church, Sydney (NDCCCS).

Rev. Albert Kwong left West Sydney Chinese Christian Church (WSCCC).

Pastor Arthur Leung leaves North Side Chinese Alliance Church (NSCAC). He takes up a position at Northern District Chinese Christian Church Sydney (NDCCCS) in 2010 to focus on Easy English ministry.

George Kwek left Grace Chinese Christian Church Sutherland for overseas missions to the Burmese.

Pastor Sunny Tse was ordained at Beverly Hills Chinese Baptist Church.
